Case Study: Duke University achieves stronger password security and streamlined collaboration with LastPass

Duke University’s IT Security Office needed a way to improve password hygiene and campus-wide security awareness for faculty, staff and students while enabling secure departmental password sharing. To support these goals, Duke turned to LastPass, initially offering LastPass Premium as part of a campus awareness campaign and then deploying LastPass Enterprise to specific groups with shared-password needs.

LastPass Enterprise was configured with stronger password policies, session timeouts and integration with Duke’s Duo multifactor authentication to harden access for administrator and departmental accounts. As a result, LastPass helped drive smarter password behavior, better collaboration through secure password sharing, easier access control and more effective offboarding—while allowing staff to access shared credentials offline when needed.
