A Laserfiche Case Study
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation (formerly the Ministry of Labour), a 1,200-employee government agency established in 1971, relied on massive file cabinets for staff records, leading to lost documents, long search and retrieval times, and inefficiencies in HR and customer service. The ministry sought a secure digital archiving solution that would organize documents, speed retrieval, support archiving policies, and be easy for staff to adopt.
After a successful pilot, the ministry implemented Laserfiche to scan, barcode-read and auto-index employee files using existing HR metadata, and to automate retention and purge workflows. The in-house program saved an estimated AED 700,000 over three years, strengthened physical-file security and disaster recovery (distributed servers and backups), cut retrieval times from hours or days to seconds, and enabled expansion of the system across IT, finance, legal and other departments.
