South Essex Partnership NHS Trust Invests in Digital Records Management Capabilities

South Essex Partnership NHS Trust (SEPT), one of the UK’s largest mental health and learning disability providers, needed to modernize its manual live patient records process as it moved to a new facility and expanded its services. Working with Laserfiche and reseller Fortrus, the trust sought a better way to manage active records across multiple sites and support secure information sharing.

Laserfiche implemented a records management and ECM solution using Laserfiche Quick Fields, Workflow, Web Access, and later Laserfiche Rio. The pilot handled more than 500,000 documents in a year, improved access for staff across the region, and enabled SEPT to standardize information management organization-wide, with expected savings of US$1.5 million over three fiscal years through reduced legacy contracts, labor, printing, and archive costs.
