Oil and Gas Permitting Made Easy with Laserfiche and E-forms

The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) partnered with Laserfiche and the Ground Water Protection Council to modernize its oil and gas permitting process. Faced with field-submitted regulatory forms and many attachments that required review, confidential handling, and public access, COGCC needed to eliminate manual scanning/indexing and speed up permit processing while ensuring secure document management.

COGCC built a custom e-forms system integrated with Laserfiche so operators can upload documents online; a scheduled service imports files into the repository, Laserfiche Workflow tags confidentiality, and SQL-driven checks automatically adjust access before documents are made available via WebLink. The solution saved about 15 minutes of scanning/indexing per file and reduced overall processing time by enabling concurrent work on forms and streamlining review and public access.
