A Laserfiche Case Study
Oakwood University, a private historically Black institution in Huntsville, Alabama serving about 1,800 students, set out to build a campus-wide culture of automation. Its legacy document imaging system could not support workflows, leaving key student services — notably graduation clearance, which required students to gather multiple signatures and often took months — slow, paper-heavy, and opaque.
Replacing that system with Laserfiche centralized records and automated workflows for graduation clearance, transcript requests, change forms, photo ID import, and grant management, cutting processing times from months to weeks, reducing paper use, and enabling mobile review and real-time notifications. The university reclaimed staff and student time, gained a holistic view of student records to support intervention, and created a Laserfiche certification pathway that gives students marketable skills.
