A Laserfiche Case Study
Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD), which provides indigent care, emergency medical services and public health in Montgomery County, Texas, faced an urgent need to eliminate paper forms and manual processes when COVID-19 hit. The pandemic forced many staff to work remotely and required rapid, privacy-compliant ways to gather and share exposure, symptom and case data while protecting HIPAA-protected information and keeping frontline workers safe.
Building on a 2019 Laserfiche rollout (with partner DocuNav), MCHD rapidly deployed electronic forms and automated workflows for exposure reporting, twice-daily symptom screening and case investigations—going from idea to production in about a week. The automation cut manual data entry, lightened epidemiologists’ workloads, enabled supervisors to track and follow up on missed check-ins, produced aggregated reports for county decision-makers, and accelerated broader digital transformation including telemedicine planning.
