Mercer Island School District, a K–12 district near Seattle serving about 4,500 students and 500 staff, faced slow, paper-based accounts payable and scattered records that made invoice approvals, public-records compliance and remote access cumbersome — a process that could take more than a week and often produced lost or delayed invoices. The district needed a digital solution to increase efficiency, accountability and enable staff to spend more time on student-centered priorities.
Working with FreeDoc, MISD implemented Laserfiche Cloud with Smart Invoice Capture to automatically extract invoice data, automate approvals and centralize records. The district now sees invoice turnaround times within a day, eliminated lost invoices, improved reporting and reminders, strengthened compliance and remote access, and is reallocating server maintenance and infrastructure savings back into student programs while expanding Laserfiche to other HR and district workflows.
