A Laserfiche Case Study
Virginia Tech’s Facilities Records department, which manages projects across the university’s 2,600‑acre campus, struggled with slow, paper‑based access to large drawings and blueprints. Field workers had to visit the main office and wait a day for copies, engineering students needed bulky plans for coursework, and contractors spent time sifting through dozens of hardcopies at pre‑bid meetings.
By storing all drawings in Laserfiche WebLink and sharing URLs and credentials for mobile access, staff, students and bidders can view plans on tablets and smartphones. The change sped field repairs (saving about 1.5 days per project), reduced printing and copying costs, streamlined the bidding process, and supported the department’s sustainability goals.
