How the Town of Okotoks Streamlined Permitting

The Town of Okotoks, the largest town in Alberta, Canada, struggled with isolated document filing across 20 business centers, which caused delays in public service delivery and data entry errors. To solve this, the town turned to Laserfiche for a document management solution with electronic forms, workflow, and records management capabilities to create a more streamlined, centralized filing system.

Laserfiche helped The Town of Okotoks build a single enterprise repository and standardize filing and archiving across departments. The town also implemented more than 150 forms-based processes, and now processes over 21,000 digital forms in one system. As a result, the permitting department saves about two months of administrative staff work per year, inspections and permits can be completed in six to eight months instead of a full year, and collaboration and transparency have improved significantly.
