The Town of Dover, NY — which processes up to 500 land and building permits a year for 5,700 parcels — struggled with a paper-heavy permitting system: paper files grew unwieldy, documents were often borrowed and not returned, and audits or FOIA requests could take days to fulfill.
By integrating Laserfiche with Municity, the town now scans applications into Laserfiche using templates and automates renaming, routing, retention and parcel-based shortcuts via Laserfiche Workflow, while staff access all parcel documents directly from Municity. The change cut FOIA retrieval from days to minutes, centralized emails, maps and microfilm with permit records, enforced retention automatically, and sped up and secured the permitting process.
