How the Texas Municipal Power Agency Integrated Laserfiche with Maximo

The Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA) uses IBM Maximo to manage power-plant assets like motors, transformers and turbines, and needed a reliable way for engineers to access associated engineering drawings, manuals and technical documents. The challenge was linking Laserfiche documents to Maximo assets in many-to-many relationships (one document to many assets and vice versa) and filling gaps where manuals were missing or personally stored.

TMPA built a Laserfiche "EquipmentAsset" template and automated Laserfiche Workflows to parse metadata, validate Maximo Asset IDs, associate non‑unique documents with similar assets, rename and store files, and run periodic syncs. They added Laserfiche buttons in Maximo, an SME Review web app and a gamified backfilling competition to accelerate capture. The result: one-click access to correct documents from Maximo, faster document retrieval and backfilling, automated maintenance of links, minimal extra training, and improved reporting and documentation coverage.
