A Laserfiche Case Study
The Samish Indian Nation, a Pacific Northwest tribe that provides housing, health, elder and cultural services, relies on state and federal grants to support many programs. With departments spread across five sites, the tribe’s paper‑based grant approval process was slow, costly and error‑prone—packets were lost or delayed in interoffice mail and approvals often took a week or more, sometimes jeopardizing submission deadlines.
Using Laserfiche Forms and process automation, the tribe digitized grant submissions, routed approvals to supervisors and executives (with email notifications, timers and mobile access), and stored completed files in a searchable repository. By adapting a Business Process Library template, Samish cut grant processing from about one week to one day, eliminated lost paperwork, sped turnaround via mobile reviews, and increased the number of grants staff can handle.
