How Steves and Sons Uses the Laserfiche SDK

Steves and Sons, the nation’s third-largest door manufacturer producing 3.5 million doors annually, needed a reliable way to document each door from production through delivery—especially costly custom doors—to ensure quality, standardize inspections, and protect against invalid damage claims. The challenge was to simplify and enforce a thorough, auditable inspection workflow and give customer service quick access to order and inspection details.

Using the Laserfiche SDK, Steves and Sons built a suite of tools: a desktop “Premium Door Inspection Station” that guides inspectors through three inspection stages and uploads photos with metadata, a web “Premium Door Dashboard” for customer-service visibility, and a PICS Android app that barcode-scans pallets, captures shipment photos, and stores them in Laserfiche via web services. The result: fast development, automated photo capture and metadata application, integrated PDF reporting, improved customer service, and significant savings by reducing false damage claims.
