How Saint Louis Public Schools Automated the Staff Selection Process

St. Louis Public School District (SLPS), one of Missouri’s largest districts with 4,400 staff supporting 23,500 students, struggled with a paper-driven staff selection process spread across paper, microfilm and email. High turnover in HR and decentralized submission methods (hand-delivery, fax, email, interoffice mail) made it hard to track recommendations, causing delays in offers and occasional loss of strong candidates.

SLPS implemented Laserfiche Forms to centralize and automate the selection workflow: location data auto-populates from the district ERP, candidates and interview materials are uploaded to a single form, and automated routing, confirmations and 48-hour alerts keep HR and principals informed. The result was faster, more transparent hiring for the 400–500 annual hires, reclaimed storage space, reduced staff time on paperwork, an auditable centralized record of requisitions and greater ability for staff to manage and improve the process.
