A Laserfiche Case Study
Algonquin College, a large public college in Ontario with about 20,000 full‑time students and 35,000 continuing education registrations, faced a paper‑heavy Registrar’s Office that processed roughly 2,500 transcript requests per term. Physical forms and long paper routing caused storage issues, document deterioration and delays—credit transfer (exemption) requests routinely took 4–6 weeks—and a prior document system only stored scans without automating workflows.
The college implemented Laserfiche ECM so students could submit exemption requests and upload transcripts online; Laserfiche QuickFields, repository indexing and Workflow automate metadata capture, email notifications, routing and approvals, and integrate with the Genesis student system. Within four weeks 90% of exemption requests were completed in 1–2 weeks (about an 83% reduction in turnaround time), file storage space was reclaimed for offices, students can request documents anytime, and document retrieval and retention became faster and more reliable.
