Essar Group - Customer Case Study

Essar Group, a Mumbai-based conglomerate with 60,000 employees across 63 companies and operations in more than 20 countries, launched an enterprise Shared Service Center in 2009 to consolidate and automate finance and accounting across India. To provide visibility, time-bound execution and accountability, Essar selected Laserfiche (with reseller Sigma‑Tech) to integrate with its SAP‑DMS; what began as a 100‑user scanning solution grew into a full ECM/BPM rollout to standardize and centralize document-driven finance processes.

Using a hub‑and‑spoke model, Laserfiche Workflow automated scanning, validation, routing and approvals (including SAP‑DMS checks and duplicate detection), supported mailroom and FTP intake, and published daily reports to the BI layer. The result: invoice processing shortened from weeks to hours or a day for normal cases, higher transaction throughput, enterprise‑wide visibility and stronger controls via audit trails, with an estimated 40% return on the Laserfiche investment and plans to extend integration to ARIBA and e‑invoicing.
