A Laserfiche Case Study
The Canadian Seed Growers' Association (CSGA) is a 3,500‑member organization that has certified high‑quality seed in Canada since 1904, processing 16,000–18,000 fields annually across 1.2 million acres. After federal budget cuts forced a rapid shift to Alternative Service Delivery—replacing government inspectors with 280 private inspectors across dozens of new offices—CSGA had an 18‑month window to replace a slow, paper‑based certification system (average 15 days per report) with a standardized digital process.
CSGA implemented Laserfiche to reengineer workflows, digitize 150,000 documents and launch SeedCert, a web/mobile portal using Laserfiche Forms and Workflow. Growers now submit inspection requests online, staff approve and route them to inspectors, and reports are returned electronically—resulting in over 90% electronic submissions in year one (up from 27%), certificate issuance up to ten times faster, near‑real‑time results instead of weeks, and elimination of manual data entry and postage.
