A Laserfiche Case Study
The City of Shakopee needed a more scalable, easy-to-manage enterprise content management solution to replace a small concurrent-user system and support a two-person IT team serving about 125 staff across nine departments. Departments — notably police, building, and finance — faced paper-based workflows, limited search and field access to records, duplicated files and manual copying, which hindered collaboration and officer safety.
Shakopee upgraded to a 50-user Laserfiche Avante system with Quick Fields, WebLink and integrations to its building-permit and police case-management systems, and plans integrations with GIS and JDE plus Laserfiche Workflow for HR and AP. The upgrade delivered instant, metadata-driven searchability, field access to photos and case files, automated folder creation and easier maintenance via an open API — producing early efficiency and cost savings and laying the groundwork to digitize records and automate workflows citywide.
