A Laserfiche Case Study
The City of Denton, TX faced a cramped, paper-heavy HR operation—15 five-drawer file cabinets squeezed into 500 sq. ft. and frequent lost or hard-to-find files that made open-records requests and routine searches slow and inefficient. After evaluating document-imaging options and testing Laserfiche (with reseller DocuNav) in key offices, the city chose Laserfiche to digitize records, improve searchability and free up physical space.
Denton integrated Laserfiche with its JD Edwards HRIS and payroll systems and launched a web-based application process, automating the hiring workflow and giving supervisors secure remote access. The change cut open-records effort to roughly 8–13% of one employee’s time, reduced filing from up to two weeks to about a day, enabled fast name/ID searches and redaction, and extended benefits citywide—to the library, fire, city secretary and engineering departments.
