A Laserfiche Case Study
Chesterfield County, Virginia — a growing jurisdiction with records dating back centuries — was already a long‑time Laserfiche user but needed to modernize its records retention and management processes. The challenge was migrating an extensive archive and a finely tuned security model into Laserfiche Records Management Edition (RME) without disrupting daily operations or losing access and audit controls.
The county combined Laserfiche RME with Laserfiche Workflow, recoded templates, built a migration application and temporarily froze changes to migrate most records in about 30 days. The result preserved strict security and auditing, automated retention and routing, sped up accounts payable and HR tasks, enabled GIS and accounting integrations, and improved document access and compliance — with plans to expand citizen access and storage as use grows.
