Avis Fleet Services (AFS), a leading fleet management company in Southern Africa, faced rising operational costs and slow customer service because core processes produced massive paper volumes (about 85,000 accounting documents per month), lacked offsite access, and struggled with poor communications and bandwidth in remote areas. Paper-based workflows made resolving customer queries time-consuming and inefficient across a wide geographic footprint.

AFS deployed Laserfiche Rio as integrative middleware and integrated it with its AS/400 Fleet Management System, Oracle finance database, PlanetPress and customer portals to automate traffic-fine processing, accident claims and accounts payable/receivable workflows. The solution centralized document storage and routing, enabled online billing for ~20% of customers, sped up call resolution, increased productivity across 183 staff without adding headcount, reduced printing and storage costs, and improved sustainability and overall customer service.
