A Laserfiche Case Study
The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) administers financial aid in Washington, including the Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET) prepaid tuition program, and was processing up to 1,500 paper enrollment applications a year. Its legacy process involved scanning applications into a document system, batching them for Banner account creation, and holding entire batches when one application required verification (sometimes delaying processing by up to 60 days), while paper piles created security and access issues.
WSAC implemented Laserfiche with an SSN‑driven template and automated workflows that map document types, retrieve account owner data from Banner, file records into a retention‑aligned repository, and trigger an enrollment workflow for Banner account setup and finance routing. The result: no more circulating paper, individual applications are no longer delayed by batch errors, staff can access status instantly, and overall security, speed and customer service have improved.
