Systems Integrated, a company specializing in technology solutions for utilities, was tasked by the County of Los Angeles to network-enable hundreds of traffic light controllers for remote management. The challenge was to find a cost-effective way to minimize traffic congestion and fuel emissions by allowing officials to better control traffic flow.

The solution implemented by Lantronix used their XPort embedded device servers to create a secure wireless Ethernet backbone, which connected the controllers over the internet. This approach from Lantronix resulted in substantial monthly savings of over $6,000 for the county by drastically reducing the required infrastructure, earning the project a Top Ten Quality and Productivity Award.
