Link-Tech, a provider of productivity technology for the commercial printing industry, faced the challenge of helping printers shift to a time and materials business model by finding a way to accurately track all operational costs, including ink, paper, and utilities, for each job. The company needed a compact solution to add network connectivity for real-time monitoring. To solve this, they partnered with the vendor Lantronix.

Using the Lantronix XPort embedded device server, Link-Tech integrated network connectivity into its Ranger R3000 flowmeter. This solution provided printers with 100 times more accurate, real-time data on ink usage and operational costs. The result enabled precise customer quotes, eliminated recording errors, and allowed for remote monitoring and maintenance scheduling, which significantly improved system efficiencies and the return on investment for printing companies.
