LifeScan, a maker of blood glucose monitoring systems, faced the challenge of needing frequent data downloads from their devices to manage tight glycemic control protocols, which placed a significant burden on nursing staff. They partnered with vendor Lantronix to find a battery-powered wireless solution for their OneTouch® DataLink® system that would enable real-time data transfer without high power consumption.

Lantronix developed a custom, battery-powered version of its WiBox® technology, creating the OneTouch® DataLink® Wireless Unit. This solution provided the necessary mobility and security for real-time data reporting, which led to more frequent patient monitoring, improved care, and better compliance with quality standards. The implementation also gave nurses greater mobility and helped hospitals streamline their costs.
