Case Study: New York City Department of Transportation improves traffic management with Lantronix ITS solution

A Lantronix Case Study

Lantronix Provides Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for New York City

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYDOT) faced a significant challenge in managing over 10,000 traffic intersections across the city. Before engaging Lantronix, any technical issue required dispatching a team for an on-site evaluation and repair, a process that often forced lane closures and created major traffic delays. The department needed an Intelligent Transportation System solution to gain remote management capabilities.

Lantronix implemented its TAA-compliant Managed Hardened Gigabit Ethernet Power-over-Ethernet Plus (PoE+) Switches. This solution provided remote power cycling via Auto Power Reset and centralized oversight through its Device Management System (DMS) software. The results for NYDOT included the ability to remotely troubleshoot and reboot devices, which drastically reduced the need for on-site repairs. This led to significant savings in maintenance costs and a major reduction in traffic delays and lane closures for motorists.
