Lantronix Powers Parking and Security at Mall of America

The Mall of America, the largest shopping mall in the United States, faced the challenge of powering and managing an advanced outdoor camera-based parking guidance system for its vast parking areas. They needed a solution to eliminate expensive cable trenching, power high-perched cameras and digital signage, and integrate everything for real-time monitoring. Working with their partner Park Assist, they turned to Lantronix for a solution.

Lantronix implemented its SESPM Series Switch, a hardened outdoor PoE++ switch, to power the entire system. This provided reliable power to the cameras and signage, enabled wireless connectivity, and allowed for remote management via Bluetooth. The solution resulted in significant cost and time savings, eliminating the need for scissor-lift access and saving an estimated $1,000 per maintenance instance, while also creating a sitewide security system for improved visitor safety.
