IMAG Technologies, a provider of Bluetooth-enabled communications equipment, needed to add Ethernet connectivity to its wireless products to enable remote monitoring over the internet. The challenge was to find a compact, easy-to-integrate solution without the lengthy development time of building an in-house TCP/IP stack, so they turned to the vendor Lantronix for a solution.

Lantronix provided its XPort embedded device server, which delivered a complete serial-to-Ethernet connectivity solution in a small form factor. The implementation saved IMAG an estimated 48 person-months of development time and hundreds of thousands of dollars, allowing them to quickly launch one of the first products of its kind. This gave IMAG a significant competitive edge and opened up several new business opportunities, significantly growing sales for their Blue232 product line.
