HumanWare, a global leader in assistive technology for people with vision loss, faced the challenge of creating a small, handheld GPS and reader device. Lantronix provided its Open-Q 410 SOM, a production-ready module that offered a pre-certified computing solution to contain development costs. The solution included a transition to an open-source Linux platform for easier upgrades and integration, optimized power management for ultra-long battery life, and a large memory capacity. This partnership enabled HumanWare to quickly deliver a market-ready, durable prototype, significantly improving their speed to market and reducing overall product certification costs.
