Macfab Optimizes Its Lean Manufacturing With Lantek

MACFAB, based in Carrickmacross, Ireland, designs and manufactures waste baling equipment for customers around the world. To support its lean manufacturing goals and improve material utilization, the company needed better control over nesting, stock, and costing for its complex sheet metal parts, and turned to Lantek Expert CADCAM software.

Lantek implemented Lantek Expert and Lantek Manager to help MACFAB dynamically nest parts, manage bills of materials and stock, and estimate cutting times more accurately. The solution improved manufacturing efficiency, eliminated a descaling step by producing a cleaner edge, and helped MACFAB reduce assumed waste from 10% to an actual 8–9%, while also giving better cost visibility for prototypes and production.
