Cad Model to Punch/laser Machine, Lantek Provides the Crucial Link

Seeco (UK) Ltd, a Bedford-based manufacturer of precision sheet metal components and fabrications, needed a faster way to turn SolidWorks 3D models into production-ready CNC programs for its punch/laser and bending equipment. The company had increasing volumes and a wide mix of parts and materials to process, so it looked for a CAD/CAM system that could integrate smoothly with SolidWorks and automate programming.

Lantek provided Lantek Expert and Lantek Flex3d SW, creating the link from SolidWorks to Seeco’s Amada EML 3610 NT punch laser machine and ERP-driven nesting workflow. With Lantek, Seeco can go from 3D model to nested CNC program in just 3-4 minutes, automatically choose punching or laser paths based on available tools, and improve material utilization by nesting parts into usable scrap areas. The system has been reliable since 2004, required only a small postprocessor change at installation, and now supports 24/7 unattended production.
