A LanguageLine Case Study
Middletown Public Schools, a diverse district in New York with a large English Language Learner population, needed a comprehensive language access program to comply with state regulations and better serve students and families. Their challenge was to remove language barriers across all school interactions, from registration to parent-teacher communication. To achieve this, they partnered with LanguageLine for interpretation and translation services.
LanguageLine provided on-demand telephonic interpretation, scheduled in-person interpreters, and translation services. This solution was integrated into every touchpoint, including front-office calls, sensitive meetings, and translated assessments. The district saw anecdotal success with increased family engagement and smoother teacher interactions, and gained truer academic performance metrics for ELL students by testing them in their native languages. Middletown credits LanguageLine with helping build stronger bonds with families and is now exploring the vendor's video interpretation services for further improvement.
