Denver Health faced the challenge of overcoming significant language barriers to provide equitable healthcare access, as a large portion of its patient population preferred to speak a language other than English. To address this, they partnered with vendor LanguageLine to access on-demand interpretation services.
The solution implemented by LanguageLine provided Denver Health with on-demand video and audio interpretation, an instant-access app for caregivers, and scheduled in-person appointments. This allowed the hospital to offer interpretation services in over 240 languages. The measurable impact was supporting over 650,000 patient visits requiring language assistance, with about 80 percent of those needing and receiving interpreter support, ensuring quality care and health equity.
