Case Study: Baltimore County expands multilingual school enrollment access with LanguageLine on-demand interpreting

A LanguageLine Case Study

Baltimore County reaches families in 240+ languages with LanguageLine

Baltimore County faced the challenge of enrolling non-English-speaking students and connecting their families with school resources, as its single, fixed enrollment center was logistically difficult for many families to reach. To bridge communication barriers with these families, the county partnered with vendor LanguageLine to utilize its on-demand interpreting service via a mobile app.

LanguageLine provided the solution by equipping staff on a new Mobile Welcome Center with its app, offering immediate access to interpreters in over 240 languages. This allowed county staff to effectively communicate with families on-site, explain requirements, and facilitate enrollments. The result was a "night and day" difference in their ability to serve a greater number of families directly in their communities, making education significantly more accessible.
