Oulun Energia’s extensive smart metering solution, an investment far into the future

Oulun Energia Siirto ja Jakelu Oy, part of the Oulun Energia group, needed to extend its electricity smart metering rollout to 62,000 additional meter points while keeping costs under control and improving efficiency. The company turned to its long-term partner, Landis+Gyr, seeking a comprehensive, future-ready solution that could integrate with its existing 28,000 remotely readable meters and support meter delivery, reading services, and system requirements.

Landis+Gyr delivered a turnkey Gridstream smart metering solution, including 62,000 smart electricity meters, Gridstream AIM software, DC450 data concentrators, AIMIA integration, communications, installation tools, and seven years of operations and maintenance services. The project helped Oulun Energia improve billing speed, network management, customer service, and resource efficiency, while keeping smart metering costs predictable over the system lifecycle.
