Case Study: Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke improves billing and network visibility with Landis+Gyr smart metering

Landis+Gyr was the supplier of choice for a country-wide rollout in the principality of Liechtenstein

Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke (LKW), the publicly owned utility serving the entire principality of Liechtenstein, wanted to improve customer service, reduce collection costs, enhance visibility into power quality, and detect outages more quickly. To meet these goals, LKW partnered with Landis+Gyr and selected its Gridstream® end-to-end smart metering solution, including E450 smart meters.

Landis+Gyr implemented a country-wide rollout of more than 23,000 E450 meters, along with PLC communications, Gridstream AIM software, and training for LKW staff. The solution enabled remote reads, remote connect/disconnect, multi-energy metering for gas, water, and heat, near real-time billing, and better network monitoring; LKW also gained online consumption visibility for customers and support for future pricing models and energy management improvements.
