Landis+Gyr passes 1 million meter mark with ACEA rollout

Acea Distribuzione, Italy’s largest municipal utility, needed to improve service quality, optimize processes, and gain better low- and medium-voltage network monitoring and control for its electricity customers in Rome. To meet these goals, it worked with Landis+Gyr on an integrated AMM smart metering system for residential electricity users.

Landis+Gyr implemented the AMM solution, delivering high-accuracy bi-directional meters, remote meter management, and smart grid capabilities, with the system also designed for future gas and water expansion. The rollout passed 1 million meters in Rome by May 2008 and was targeted to reach 1.5 million electricity meters by 2009, helping Acea provide better supply quality, online information, and tailored customer options such as demand incentives and prepayment.
