Kuopion Energia adopts versatile smart multi-energy metering solution

Kuopion Energia, a utility owned by the City of Kuopio, needed a smart metering solution that could expand beyond its existing electricity meters and integrate smoothly with multiple vendors and communication technologies, including its own telecom network. Landis+Gyr was chosen to provide a flexible, future-proof multi-energy metering platform and service model that would fit into the company’s existing infrastructure.

Landis+Gyr implemented a turnkey smart metering solution covering about 50,000 meters, integration with Kuopion Energia’s data systems, deployment and project management, and 10 years of operation and maintenance services. The solution used Gridstream AIM, AIMIA, Site Manager, Dashboard, and InSight, enabling hourly data collection, daily data delivery, better network and power-quality visibility, faster fault response, improved loss detection and billing accuracy, and reduced manual meter reading.
