A Landis+Gyr Case Study
Järvi-Suomen Energia, part of the Suur-Savon Sähkö group in Finland, needed to modernize customer service and operations by rolling out smart metering to all 100,000 customers. The utility wanted a large-scale, cost-effective solution that could support customer service, network maintenance, future technologies, and multi-energy metering for electricity, district heat, and water. Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream smart metering solution was selected to meet these requirements.
Landis+Gyr implemented an end-to-end solution including 80,000 new smart meters, data concentrators, communications technology, software, integration to utility systems, project planning, training, and ongoing meter reading, operations, and maintenance services. The result is hourly metering data delivered daily, improved billing and customer service, remote meter reading and rate changes, better network status and power quality visibility, and more efficient internal processes. Järvi-Suomen Energia also gained a flexible platform for future services and clearer, consumption-based invoicing for customers.
