Lappeenrannan Energiaverkot Oy, part of the Lappeenrannan Energia Group, needed a single smart metering solution that could support electricity, district heat, gas, and eventually water while integrating with existing field technologies. The company selected Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream smart metering solution and associated services to replace multiple systems with one cost-effective, multi-energy platform.

Landis+Gyr implemented a turnkey deployment covering about 55,000 meters, including 50,000 E450/E350 electricity meters, 800 T550 district heat meters, concentrators, communications, system integration, and training, backed by a 15-year service contract. The solution gave Lappeenrannan Energiaverkot daily hourly consumption data, improved network monitoring and customer service, reduced manual meter reading, and lowered costs by consolidating maintenance, data transfer, and training into one system.
