A major Smart Metering project with Helen Electricity Network

Helen Electricity Network, a major electricity distributor, sought to implement one of Europe's largest and most advanced smart metering projects to rationalize processes and develop new smart grid services. The challenge was to find a proficient partner capable of delivering a complete, cost-effective solution with reliable communication and long-term service support, leading them to select Landis+Gyr for their comprehensive smart metering technology and services.

Landis+Gyr implemented a turnkey solution, delivering and installing 200,000 E350 smart meters and providing a minimum 10-year meter reading service. The solution utilized a flexible Gridstream AIM system with Meshnet RF and 2G/3G communication, enabling near real-time data, remote controls, and significant operational savings. The project, one of the largest in Europe, provided Helen with substantial cost benefits, optimized network usage, and eliminated manual meter readings, all while preparing the grid for future innovations.
