Automating Network Tasks Saves Time, Money and Keeps High-Tech Classrooms Operational

Granite School District, the second-largest district in Utah, needed a better way to keep technology in its classrooms available and secure. Managing thousands of PCs, Macs, servers, and 90 locations was consuming too much time and staff effort, especially for imaging, patching, software distribution, and on-site repairs. The district also faced serious risk from outdated systems, including a Sasser worm incident that shut down a high school repeatedly. Granite School District chose LANDESK Management Suite and LANDESK Security Suite to address these challenges.

With LANDESK, Granite School District centralized imaging and reduced 2,000 images to just three, cut patching from 900 hours per week to about 10 hours per month, and reduced software distribution servers from 90 to four. LANDESK also enabled remote support, greatly reducing travel time for technicians, and its power management feature earned a $207,000 rebate while lowering electricity costs. Overall, LANDESK helped Granite School District save time and money while keeping classroom technology operational for students and faculty.
