Canadian Avalanche Association Increases Quality of Training by Using Blended Learning

The Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA), based in Revelstoke, British Columbia, needed a better way to deliver its professional avalanche training programs, which had historically been classroom- and field-only. To help students build a consistent foundation in snow and avalanche concepts before field training, the CAA chose Lambda Solutions and its Lambda Learn and Lambda Analytics platform to support a blended learning approach.

Lambda Solutions implemented a cloud-based online “pre-course” for Avalanche Operations Level 1, allowing students to learn prerequisite material at their own pace before in-field instruction. The result was reduced time strain on instructors, better-prepared students, and higher training quality; Lambda Analytics also gave the CAA reporting tools to track learner progress and refine course content for greater effectiveness.
