Interactive and Immersive Technology Enhances Learning and Creativity in the North East

The Word is a new cultural venue in South Shields, developed with South Tyneside Council to create an interactive centre for literacy, learning and regional heritage. LamasaTech was commissioned to deliver bespoke, user-friendly audio-visual technology that would make learning more accessible, showcase local history, and position the North East as an innovative education hub.

LamasaTech installed a StoryWorld immersive storytelling room, a six-screen digital media wall, interactive touch tables with live ship tracking, and DDA-compliant touch exhibits for the Lost Dialects display. The technology has driven stronger engagement across ages and abilities—children, including those with special needs, show increased focus and produce more and better-quality writing—while schools benefit from low-cost access to high-end resources and the community enjoys richer, interactive experiences of local heritage.
