The National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s Core Genotyping Facility (CGF) needed to support high-throughput genotyping across more than 25 studies and as many as 75,000 samples while improving operational efficiency, cost tracking, sample handling, assay validation, instrument integration and consolidated electronic workflows. To meet these challenges, The National Cancer Institute (NCI) partnered with LabVantage Solutions to design and implement a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

LabVantage Solutions delivered a web-based Java/Oracle LIMS that integrates genomic, phenotypic and reagent data, interfaces with instrumentation and robotics in eight of CGF’s twelve units, and provides electronic worksheets, plate transfer tools, reagent tracking, primer/assay design and comprehensive reporting and auditing. As a result, LabVantage Solutions enabled improved coordination of high-throughput analysis, better cost and sample tracking, stronger quality control and easier access to genotype data for NCI investigators while supporting large-scale sample volumes and multi-study management.
