A LabVantage Solutions Case Study
Duke Translational Medicine Institute faced fragmentation across more than a dozen major biobanks that used unlinked, inconsistent systems and terminology, which prevented cross-bank queries and left important clinical annotation and regulatory data untracked. To address this, Duke selected LabVantage Solutions’ LIMS/BioBanking solution to provide a web-based, secure platform that could integrate with existing informatics systems (Clinical Data Warehouse, electronic IRB, CTMS) and enforce standardized biobanking practices.
LabVantage Solutions implemented its BioBanking LIMS to consolidate disparate inventories into a single system that manages the full biospecimen lifecycle—participant consents, clinical annotation, pre-analytical variables, sample locations and test results—and integrates with Duke’s other data sources. The deployment enabled retiring multiple legacy systems, eliminated informatics redundancies, improved interoperability and queryability across biobanks, and increased the value and usability of stored biospecimens for researchers.
