Commercial Testing Lab for inorganic materials creates paperless environment to enhance operations

NSL Analytical Services, a Cleveland-based commercial testing laboratory specializing in elemental analysis since 1945, faced challenges with customer communication, manual calculations, instrument connectivity, sample tracking and billing while trying to move toward a paperless, more automated operation. After evaluating LIMS options, NSL selected LabVantage Solutions and its LABVANTAGE Enterprise / LABVANTAGE 3.1 LIMS to provide the flexibility and instrument integration the lab required.

LabVantage Solutions implemented a browser/server LIMS that integrates multiple locations and instruments, attaches reports and scanned documents to samples, manages approvals, provides daily customer status notifications, preliminary pricing and exports to accounting. The deployment created a virtually paperless lab, gave chemists real-time access to reports, improved calculation accuracy and turnaround time, and enabled NSL to handle more samples per month with less overtime—a “quantum leap in efficiency” that supports growth without adding staff.
