University of Turku helps 5 lecturers expand lab access with Labster

The University of Turku's Turku Institute of Biomedicine faced a challenge in providing accessible and interactive lab work for students, especially during the pandemic. Adjunct Professor Leena Strauss and her staff sought an alternative to standard video conferencing tools that would actively engage students in laboratory experiments. This need persisted post-pandemic due to limited resources and equipment for conducting in-person wet labs.

The university adopted Labster's virtual lab simulations, including Nuclear Chemistry and Western Blot Transfer, to supplement hands-on learning and prepare students for physical lab work. As a result, students felt significantly more prepared and less fearful of making mistakes in the wet lab. The solution provided an interactive, gamified learning alternative that bridged the gap between theory and practice. Labster enabled all students to actively participate in experiments, which was previously impossible with limited and expensive equipment.
