National University of Singapore expands biomedical engineering teaching with Labster and $30,000 NMR labs

The National University of Singapore (NUS) sought to innovate its STEM pedagogy and expand its Biomedical Engineering program beyond the constraints of conventional lectures and expensive physical lab equipment. To keep students on the cutting edge of their fields, NUS needed a solution to enrich its curriculum and better prepare students for competitive careers.

To address this, NUS implemented Labster's interactive 3D virtual lab simulations, including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Spectrophotometry. This solution from Labster filled gaps in costly equipment, allowed students to repeat experiments, and enabled detailed tracking of student progress. As a result, Professor Bina Rai was able to condense lab time, spend less time lecturing large groups, and instead focus on one-on-one mentorship to target individual learning gaps, effectively transferring ownership of learning to the students.
