A Labster Case Study
Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) in Austria, led by biotechnology professor Dr. Carmen Nußbaumer, was looking for a way to improve pre-lab training and save time for both lecturers and students before face-to-face lab classes. To support courses in biotechnology, fermentation technology, food engineering, and related subjects, the university turned to Labster’s virtual lab simulations.
Labster implemented its simulations as part of a flipped-classroom approach, with students completing pre-lab exercises and exam-prep activities from home and then using class time for deeper discussion and hands-on practice. The result was better preparation, more repetition and self-paced learning, and higher student motivation; surveys showed students were fully satisfied and wanted to use the format more often.
